Thoughts, and more.

Do you have the courage to tell a blind man that beauty is in the eye of the beholder? What would he say? Would he take a swing at you with his cane or would he sic his dog after you? Would he become sad at the thought of not knowing what beauty looked like in its true form?

Or, would he laugh at whoever asked him, shaking his head then saying, "Beauty isn't worth its weight in gold unless you can feel it. Don't brag about what you can see, you can see all you want. Are you really satisfied without being able to touch it?"

This post has been brought to you by the annoyances and pressures to look good with the turn of every page of a woman's magazine.

Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly is to the bone.

WTF BOLLYWOOD?!

Watch this trailer. I really enjoyed this movie, even though I didn't understand...98% of it. Good action flick, check it out.

Choosing A Path

Life is full of tough choices, many of them which bear the weight of consequence and struggle. And again, I refer to the worthiness of struggle. We all must at some point, and through it all we have to keep in mind that we aren't alone, nor are we singled out from the rest of the world when we feel pain. Others feel pain, deeper than we do at times, different types of pain. Whether we lose a friend, a family member or even someone we've never had face to face contact with (thanks, internet) it counts as a loss on some level. Again, we must keep in mind, "This isn't the end, life goes on."

My grandfather passed away in December of 2001, just before Christmas. The day before he passed my aunt left a message on my machine, asking me to call her for updates on his condition. He had suffered a minor stroke, mixed with complications from the flu and had been asleep for the better part of three days. I called her, we spoke and she never once let on how he was doing, only mentioning that he was a strong man as well as stubborn, still holding onto life. He was funny like that. She placed the phone to his ear, resisting the urge to beg for him to wake up I only said, "Hi, guelo, its Carissa...are you ok?"

Then I heard his voice. He sounded weak, but he sounded happy. He replied with, "Hi...si...bien, bien." We stayed on the phone, chit chatting for a few more minutes and then he fell back to sleep. When I can afford to go pay my respects to him, I will hop on a plane to Puerto Rico and pay him a visit. Couldn't travel overseas at the time of his funeral, thanks to 9/11. For now he's in my heart, as well as the memories of him wanting me to sneak him candy without my grandmother finding out.

Are we bound by our own sense of commitment to the memory of another person or is it better that we live our lives, and do right by them? I don't think either one is a terrible path to follow.

Something...New

So, I Slept...

Swimming

The dream of swimming must be interpreted by using all the aspects of your dream to judge the extent of the good or bad signified by swimming. If you dream you are swimming in the ocean coming toward shore you will have good fortune in business and financial affairs through your hard work. To be swimming in a pool shows that you will be unlucky in love and if you see females swimming in the pool you will have luck with love, to see males you will have luck in business, and if you see both you will experience both types of luck. If you are teaching someone to swim you will soon have an increase due to good fortune.

I hope the last one and a half lines of the above passage are about to come true. I dare not give the exact details of the dream I had last night (along with the others), but all in all I've come to find comfort in the hope that I receive from my dreams. Some days 'Dreaming' is the only place I can roam around in feeling free, unjudged and happy. Completely. Yes, that may sound a little pathetic yet, it couldn't be more true.

Shop News!

I run a shop over at Zazzle.com

I spoke to a good friend over the internet this morning and he suggested a few things that would help benefit the way my shop is going. He helped me collaborate on a few ideas After hearing his thoughts, his suggestions and pointers I took them into very deep consideration and just today, he helped me realize that I would really like to take selling a bit more serious than I have. Not just as a hobby, but as a job along with a few other things I have planned as far as working goes. So here, I present to you an idea: A section of my shop area with nothing but products that you can customize. That's right, its all you. Add any text you want, in any color on any shirt in any style, size and color that you can find. Oh yeah, you can even upload your own images from your computer and place it onto a product. Create personalized gifts for yourself or someone you know. If you find that convenient and cool, head on over to my shop and check it out!

Unknowns

Here are a few things no one has ever really known about me:

- For my 11th birthday 1 I received "A Tale Of Two Cities" as a gift. Read that book in a week, followed it with "The Andromeda Strain". Yes...reading is fun, started reading when I was 5.
- Right before I graduated high school, a friend and I liked to wander around the town cemetery...it was seriously the only place around that had peace and quiet.
- I can honestly say that I love both the country and the city.
- I want to die and come back as a vampire just so I can scare the pants off of a few emo kids.
- I can make the spiciest spaghetti on the planet and have anyone who eats it ask for more...while sweating buckets.
- I saw three ghosts or "apparitions" while living at my old house.
- I can only write when it will entertain someone.
- The scent of lavender makes me swoon.
- Chocolate keeps me from eating souls.
- Coffee: My Anti-Drug
- I stay up late at night and listen to music.
- I only read fashion mags and other ones for women because its a good laugh...and the perfume samples even though they suck half the time.
- I can eat while watching gore and horror flicks all the while thinking, "No...not enough pig's blood, take two!"
- While watching movies I have a habit of thinking to myself things like, "No...that's not scientifically possible!" or "Did we really have to see her tits?"
- My middle name is Carmen.
- My first name is of Greek origin.
- I am not Greek.
- I can speak bits of Russian and French. Almost fluent in Spanish.
- I hate Ugg boots. *Twitch*
- In another dimension, I am Spartan 921. ^_^
- In another world, I'm a fighter.
- Errol Flynn is, to me, very sexy.
- I learned how to fence when I lived in KY.

Now that they are known facts about me, your turn!:)

Well...

Today I think I've been more optimistic than most days in the past year, all 5 months of it. For a while now I have had a strong belief that there is more to life than only what we can achieve with help and with reassurance from friends I've come a long way. So much more can be accomplished if we are willing to struggle and sacrifice on our own, if only for a short while hold onto hope while hanging on tightly to the rope and climb it, reaching our goal. I happen to believe the rewards are greatly fulfilling and surpass any feeling we have experienced. Then again, were we made to survive through sacrifice? Is it mandatory we all learn the "Pay me now or Pay Me Later" lesson? Are we really made stronger with each tear, each bout of anger and twinge of inner pain?

I say: Yes.

YES.

We were made to learn. We are born, given an opportunity to feel, taste, touch, see and hear everything life has to offer. We are born, given an opportunity not to waste a moment on self pity or sorrow for ourselves or anger at any "What ifs". Grab that rope, and climb. The rope is only as long as how afraid you are to climb it.

And here, more music. I want to waltz to this. Ghost Of A Rose by Blackmore's Night. Enjoy.

A Day

Today was fairly decent. Had a great workout, had good dreams last night as well as a good sleep. But, right now my nerves on edge and it takes more than a workout late at night to get them right again. Sometimes I feel off balance and then sometimes I don't. Life happens, right? Its for a reason and as unbelieving as I am at times, the end result is worth it. In other news, below is a song that I've had stuck in my head for around a month, coupled with plenty of memories and emotions. Enjoy.

Roses Are Red...

I really...want this one. <3

One Of My Favorite Poems

Correspondences
by
Charles Baudelaire

Nature is a temple whose living colonnades
Breathe forth a mystic speech in fitful sighs
Man wanders among symbols in those glades
Where all things watch him with familiar eyes

Like dwindling echoes gathered far away
Into a deep and thronging unison
Huge as the night or as the light of day
All scents and sounds and colors meet as one.

Perfumes there are as sweet as the oboe's sound
Green as the prairies, fresh as a child's caress
And there are others, rich, corrupt, profound

And of an infinite pervasiveness,
Like myrrh, or musk, or amber, the excite
The ecstasies of sense, the soul's delight.

And here is the most beautiful....well, not anymore. But, he was loved.

Words

When I feel like I'm so deserving
And life makes my dreams so unnerving
I just close my eyes and hope to dream
I just close my eyes and hope to dream

When I feel like light is darkening
And when I see that dark is enlightening
I just close my eyes and hope to dream
I just close my eyes and hope to dream

So sweet of innocence to protect my vision
So cruel of innocence to keep these limits
Upon me, Upon my sight
So now I see clearly now and I know
That life and love can reach me now

...and thats more writing that I can't finish.

FUCKING DISAPPOINTED!

It's just hair, isn't it?

Yesterday a cousin came over to cut hair. I plopped down in the chair and for the first time in a while, thought about what kind of cut I wanted. It's been 7 years since I've had it cut, save for the 2 or 3 inches I lop off every now and again for a major trim. So, its been 7 years since I've done anything different to my hair. Yes, its just hair. I wake up, shower, brush it and twist it into a bun so that I can get through the day without having to fuss over something so menial as my hair. But, in the past few weeks I've passed the mirror quite a few times and haven't liked what I've seen. Dull, boring, just hair. Yeah, its just hair!

What about the inner (assumed) awesomeness of me? Me. Not my friggin' hair, there is more to me than a few thousand follicles covering the top of my head. Then again, I remember how much it used to be admired whenever I took care of it. Waist length wavily curled hair that would catch the eyes of the opposite sex and very very admired by only one member of the opposite sex in particular. It was a turn on, it was, as I was once told, "...it's your ticket to a great sex life! Men like to pull hair ya know!"

Lol...what? Had it. It's gone.

Back to hair...

So, I told the cousin what I wanted done to the mass of un-chemically changed and un-fashionable 'do of mine. 4 inches off the bottom and another 3 inches off for layers. 17 minutes later, it was done. I looked at the ground and felt bald but it didn't scare me. Some days I just feel like shaving it all off and starting over again, anyway. Checked the mirror, and yes, it was still just hair.

Then this morning I woke up, put on perfume, lipgloss and actually dressed. Hm, sure, it is just hair.

Feeling A Little Holly-Goth

Holly-Goth: A term which is used when referring to Hollywood's version of "goth".

That is the term I just made up, use it as you will, just make sure you refer whoever inquires about the word back to me so that I can get paid. Still, I love this song.

And Time Goes By Quickly...

...when you are surfing through YouTube.com, so here I present to you, a gem. I'm a huge fan of this series, and the song. Enjoy.

On my song list:

One by Apocalyptica
Whine Up by Kat DeLuna (I listen to limited R&B, this song made me dance.)
Gravity Of Love by Enigma
In The Air by Phil Collins
Sorry by Madonna
Hung Up by Madonna
Flames by Vast (Thanks friend!)

Listened to these, they made me giddy.

Today I took into account of what I've learned over the past 25 and a half years of my existence. Among the very important life lessons, coupled with learning experiences at differing ages I've come to this conclusion:

"Life isn't fair. But damn, it's fucking beautiful."
- Carissa Tedder

Photo-Graphic

If everyone were to see the world through the lens of a camera, they'd either miss everything, or nothing at all.

For the longest time a digital camera was attached to my hand, or at least very near at all times. I've taken pictures of everything from hurricane damage to flowers to people to lizards having sex. There's something special about capturing a moment and freezing it in time with the help of today's technology. In the television show New Amsterdam, the main character takes a picture of Times Square (in New York) every year. He has an entire wall of these photographs and in a way I envy that. Not only do they show how time can change things, but they also reveal his own personal interest, if not awe, at time itself. So here I show a bit of my own 'awe'.

apartment in Kentucky

Same sunset, same area.

And then, Me.

Wasn't kidding about
the lizard sex...

Zombie Poetry

In my dreams they come to me
Ugly monsters that dare haunt
My mind can't fathom their hate
Or why their faces are gaunt
They are stricken from my sight
And I feel so much better
Knowing evil will fester

Coffee: Geek Tested, T-shirt Approved

Gevalia. It isn't the most excellent brand of coffees in the world, though the $19.95 membership plus coffeemaker pretty much sealed the deal. This morning the flavor is: Pumpkin Spice, a smooth nutmeg and cinnamon brew with a hint of Thanksgiving. I usually save these types of flavors for the holiday season, but I strangely enough wasn't in the mood for Irish Creme...which happens to be their best flavor, I think. Though, when it comes to coffee, one has to keep a sense of humor in mind when reading the names of certain brews: Costa Rican Peaberry...now that one makes me smirk.

Don't ask.

Instead, smile at this.

I took that picture a few years ago, when I found this hilarious pair at the local Dollar Tree...sometimes, that place has everything. Bought quite a few of these for family and placed them under the tree and in their stockings for Christmas. The flavors were a little bitter, but overall not bad. I don't drink either brand of the alcohol shown above, but a friend told me that the smells were just about the same. Weird, although if you aren't a huge fan of coffee and are a rather huge fan of fun t-shirts, I present this:

Damn You, Disney

Well,...perhaps not.

My children had just finished watching Beauty and The Beast for the first time about a month ago. They enjoyed it, and I couldn't help but sit down and watch it with them. We ate popcorn, huddled under a big blanket and watched in awe. This movie, along with Sleeping Beauty, are two of my favorite movies from kid-hood. Other titles such as: E.T., Batteries Not Included, The Princess Bride, and so on have each touched my heart in a different way.

And I'd like to dedicate this blog to Disney/Pixar, for making movies that are watched repeatedly by my children.

Inconceivable!

The Mind Is A Powerful Thing

For the past year or so, every other night I dream about zombies and for the life of me can't figure out their meaning. In most of them I am alone, moving around a large city, helping others when I can and spending my nights alone. I'll have a PSG-1 with nightvision and a silencer, playing games similiar to Whack-A-Mole and others with the walking undead and with other survivors who are also playing along with me. In some dreams I've aged about 3 or 4 years and have my daughters with me. In one particular dream I had a memory of how my right hand was burned, it was bandaged. Dream memory? There's something odd about clearly remembering something that never happened...on that note I won't be grilling in the backyard anytime soon.

Sometimes I dream lucidly, so things get pretty interesting. I could've (and have a few times) shaken my head at the walking undead in my dreams and said, "None of you exist, bye now" and that would be that, they would disappear. It's worked on a few different occasions but on some it hasn't.

Huge fan of dream interpretation/symbol meanings here, maybe I should start writing some of this stuff down...

SHE'S BACK!

In Black? Not quite.

I've been ignoring this blog for some time now. Life happens, as do new business ventures and moments of humor that are enjoyed once and remembered as the end to a very good, very exciting day. I've had plenty of those since I last posted and now I'm going to take a different approach at blogging here.

I may ACTUALLY start blogging! Weird, eh?

YES!

Now, as I sit here chomping on Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter bits I think to myself, "What the heck should I blog about...? Geez I don't even feel like typing...EUREKA!"
I suppose cut and paste is a pretty self explanatory type of script so, here goes! Featured Items from my Zazzle shop!Head on over to the shop and check out the new goods!!

And there you have it folks! One of those is a best seller for St. Patrick's Day, and I've just lowered the selling price on ALL items. Right now I'm going to open Photoshop once again and continue chomping on my Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter bits. Have a great night:)
